About SafeReach
SafeReach is a free support and referral service from VARSH Foundation for anyone affected by sexual or gender-based violence in Osun State, Nigeria, in English, Yorùbá and Nigerian Pidgin.
Our approach is simple: technology opens the door, and people provide the support.
How it works
- You get in touchOn WhatsApp or through this website. No app to download, no account to create, and you don't have to give your name.
- An automated assistant answers firstIt tells you it is automated. It can share information and services that VARSH Foundation has checked. If a message suggests you may be in danger, fixed safety guidance is sent instead of an automated answer.
- A person can take overIf you ask for a person, or if you may be in danger, someone from VARSH Foundation is asked to reply. They can help you understand your options and connect with services.
What SafeReach is not
SafeReach is not:
- an emergency service
- therapy or counselling
- a legal service, or a way to report to the police
- a replacement for health care
The automated assistant cannot diagnose, give legal advice or decide anything for you.
