Your privacy and safety
Your privacy matters. This page explains, in plain words, what SafeReach keeps, for how long, and how to stay safer while using it.
This explains how SafeReach works today. The formal privacy policy is being reviewed by VARSH Foundation and its legal advisers.
Staying safe online
If someone else uses or checks your phone or computer, they may be able to see that you visited SafeReach. These steps can help, but none of them can promise that nobody will find out.
Quick exit
The Quick exit button at the top of every page, or pressing Esc twice, hides this page and opens an everyday website instead. Pressing Back will not return to the page you were on.
Quick exit does not delete your browsing history. Earlier SafeReach pages may still be in it.
Leave fewer traces
- Use a private or incognito window. It forgets the pages you visit when you close it.
- Or delete SafeReach from your browsing history afterwards, rather than clearing all of it, which can look unusual.
- If you can, use a device that only you use, or one at a trusted place.
- On WhatsApp, anyone who uses your phone may be able to read the chat. You can delete the chat afterwards.
What we keep, and for how long
| What | How long | Who can see it |
|---|---|---|
| The messages you send, and our replies | Up to 30 days, then deleted automatically | Only if your conversation is passed to a person: the VARSH staff member handling it |
| Your WhatsApp number | Kept as a scrambled code so we recognise your chat. Also kept encrypted for up to 30 days after your last message so a person can reply, then erased | Nobody. Staff never see it; replies are sent through SafeReach |
| Safety labels (for example, “may be in danger”) | Kept without your words, to keep SafeReach safe and working | VARSH staff, as counts and labels — never your messages |
| Which language you use | Kept with the scrambled code for your chat | VARSH staff handling your conversation |
Every time a staff member opens a conversation, it is recorded so it can be checked. Messages to SafeReach on WhatsApp also pass through Meta, the company that runs WhatsApp. When the automated assistant replies, your recent messages in that conversation are sent to Google, the company that provides the AI, to write the reply.
What we don't do
